FAQ - What is a credit union?
Credit unions are a fast-growing alternative to savings and loans offered by banks, building societies and payday or doorstep lenders.
They encourage its members to save regularly and if needed, to provide loans at affordable rates of interest.
They are voluntary community organisations run by and for local people.
Profits belong to the members and local people benefit from them.
The Credit Union in Tendring is operated by Colchester Credit Union.
